For the first time ever the Columbia International University Women's Basketball team hosted a conference game. The Rams opened their conference schedule with a game against Milligan College who is one of the top teams in the conference. The Rams and Buffaloes battled it out, but the Buffaloes won 69-66 in overtime.
1st Quarter Highlights:
- Over the first four minutes the Buffaloes would take an early 6-0 lead
- Britney Brown would take over for the Rams as she rattled off seven points in a row to give the Rams their first lead of the game
- The two teams would trade baskets, but a jumper by Renee Carter with sixteen seconds left in the quarter gave the Rams a 9-8 lead going into the second quarter.
2nd Quarter Highlights:
- The Rams would push their lead to four after points by Semoine Frasier and Jordan Sprueill
- The Rams would lead by five on two occasions in the quarter off points by Jay Mazyck and Kiara Austin
- However, the Buffaloes would tie the game and take a 22-21 lead into halftime
3rd Quarter Highlights:
- The Rams and Buffaloes would go back and forth over the start of the 3rd quarter, but the Buffaloes would hold onto the lead
- The Rams would tie the game at 31 after a layup by Sprueill and take the lead after she had another layup
- The Rams continued to build the lead as they lead 45-39 going into the fourth quarter
4th Quarter Highlights:
- The Rams would start out the fourth quarter by pushing their lead to eight
- The Buffaloes would fight their way back into the game as they tied it with just 32 seconds left in regulation
- After each teams last chance shots missed it was onto overtime tied 60-60
Overtime Highlights:
- The Buffaloes would take an early lead, but the Rams would come back to tie it at 63 after a Carter layup
- The Buffaloes would regain the lead and the Rams would pull to within one, but at the end the Buffaloes won 69-66
Box Score Highlights:
- The Rams shot 34.6% from the floor, while the Buffaloes shot 28%...Each team struggled from deep as the Rams were 2-13 and the Buffaloes were 2-27...Jordan Sprueill led the Rams with a double-double as she had 23 points and 12 rebounds...Britney Brown had 17 points, 6 assists, and 5 rebounds off the bench...The Rams pulled down 45 rebounds and the Buffaloes had 65...Mackenzie Raizor led the Buffaloes with 21 rebounds and 18 points.
