After having off for over a week due to Thanksgiving break the Columbia International University Women's Basketball team was back on the court tonight against St. Andrews University. The Rams took an early lead, but were unable to hold on throughout the rest of the game and fell 71-50 to the Knights.
1st Quarter Highlights:
- The Knights got the first points of the game off a three, but Amia Stone Johnson scored for the Rams right after
- Stone Johnson would be back at it again with another two to tie the game at five
- The Rams would then go on a 6-0 run with a three from Britney Brown and a three point play by Lakelyn Malovic
- The Knights would get back on the board, but a three by Renee Carter would push the Rams lead to eight
- The Rams would lead 16-10 after the first quarter
2nd Quarter Highlights:
- Five points by Keniah Watkins in the first minute of the second quarter would push the Rams lead to eleven points
- The Rams biggest lead of the night would come with 7:10 left in the second quarter after a two by Malovic
- The Knights would begin to chip away at the Rams lead and regain the lead with 2:16 left in the quarter
- The Knights would hold onto the lead for the rest of the quarter as the Rams trailed 34-32
3rd Quarter Highlights:
- The Rams would tie the game right out of the gate off a two by Jordan Sprueill
- The Knights would regain the lead, but the Rams continued to keep it close
- The Knights would get their first double digit lead of the night at the end of the quarter and led 54-44
4th Quarter Highlights:
- The Rams would trim the leads back to single digits after a three point play by Semoine Frasier
- The Rams would go cold and the Knights would run their lead upÂ
- Kylie Walker would hit a three to score the Rams last points of the night
Box Score Highlights:
- The Rams struggled from the field as they shot 26.2% (17-of-65) from the field and were 11-of-16 from the free throw line...The Knights shot 45% (27-of-60) from the floor and were 4-for-16 from the three point line...Turnovers doomed the Rams as they had 28...Britney Brown led the Rams with 10 points, while Lakely Malovic had 10 rebounds and five points...Morgan Perkins led the Knights with 22 points and 16 rebounds
