Trolls Trip Up Rams in Opening Game

For the second year in a row the Columbia International University Women's Soccer team accepted an at-large bid to the NCCAA National Championships. The Rams are the eighth seed in the tournament and opened the tournament by taking on number one seed Trinity Christian College. The Rams battled the Trolls, but a strong second half by the Trolls lifted them past the Rams.

1st Half Highlights:
  • The Trolls got off the first shot of the game, but the Rams were awared a corner just five minutes in
  • Sotiria Tsilionis got off the Rams first shot, but the Trolls keeper made the save
  • The Trolls scored two goals in a matter of five minutes to jump out to a 2-0 lead
  • The Trolls and Rams would get off some shots, but with just over nine minutes left in the half the Trolls scored their third goal
  • The Rams got on the board with seven minutes left in the half as Mikki Olson was able to dribble the ball down the right side and found Alanna Battermann on the cross
  • With under two minutes left in the half the Rams were given a corner. Taylor Kyle took the corner and McKenzie Miller found the loose ball to pull the Rams with one, 3-2 at the half
2nd Half Highlights:
  • The Trolls attacked the goal right out of the half and got their fourth goal eleven minutes into the half
  • The Trolls continued to attack the Rams goal and scored four more goals before the end of the game and won 8-2
