With Thanksgiving right around the corner the Columbia International University Women's Basketball team was looking to go into break with a win. The Rams welcomed the Golden Tigers of Brenau University to the Moore Fitness Center tonight. The Rams and Golden Tigers were evenly matched, but a slow first quarter by the Rams hurt their chances for a win as they fell 63-52.
1st Quarter Highlights:
- The Rams got off to a fast start with baskets from Britney Brown and Jordan Sprueill
- The Golden Tigers would hit a three, but the Rams would get five points from Lakelyn Malovic, Sprueill, and Renee Carter
- With just under five minutes the Golden Tigers would tie the game at nine, and go on a 12-0 run to lead 21-9 at the end of the quarter
2nd Quarter Highlights:
- The Golden Tigers would score first in the quarter, but the two teams would trade baskets back and forth
- With 2:43 left in the quarter the Golden Tigers would push their lead to 17
- The Rams would fight back, but go into the half down 35-23
3rd Quarter Highlights:
- The Golden Tigers would score first again, but the Rams would go on 10-2 run to trim the lead to eight points
- The Rams would see the Rams push their lead back to double digits
4th Quarter Highlights:
- At the beginning of the quarter the Golden Tigers would jump out in front again
- With two minutes left in the quarter the Rams would pull to within ten points off a layup by Carter
- Soon after the layup, Larissa Lee would hit a three for the Rams and pull within eight
- The Golden Tigers would score the final three points and win 63-52
