Men's Soccer Fall vs Bluefield
Bluefield, Virginia-
Following a Saturday night victory over AAC member Montreat, the Rams got a day of rest before heading back out on the road, this time to Virginia to take on Bluefield College as the season winds down before heading to conference tournament play in just a few short weeks.
CIU got it's first shot off just minutes into the game as
Rahim Gordon looked to get on the board before it was saved by the keeper. Both teams traded corner kicks and shots on goal until late in the half when the Rams of Bluefield scored by way of a penalty kick and CIU found themselves down by one going into halftime.
Four minutes into the second half CIU found themselves down 2-0 after a goal from Kevin Stoffel. With about 20 minutes left Marcos Dapaz found the back of the net thanks to an assist from
Nathanael Ruth to make it 2-1.
Doran Battermann got off one last shot with six seconds remaining but it was saved by the keeper, denying CIU the chance to force overtime.
Bluefield moves to 3-6-1 overall and 2-4-1 in conference play. CIU drops to 7-4 overall and 2-4 in conference play.
CIU gets the week to prepare for Saturday's AAC matchup with Point University at Sessions Field with kickoff time set for 5 PM.
