The Columbia International University Women's Volleyball was back on the court tonight after having yesterday off. Today the Rams welcomed the Eagles of Pensacola Christian College and Trinity Baptist College. The Rams struggled a little in the first game against Pensacola, but won that game in five sets and in the second game the Rams handled Trinity Baptist to sweep the Eagles and win both games. With the win the Rams move to 14-17 on the year.
CIU 3 - Pensacola 2
1st Set Highlights:
- The Eagles opened up the game leading 4-0, but hte Rams would fight back to tie the game at nine
- The Rams would take the lead off an ace by Tyliahia Williams
- The two teams would go back and forth as they would tie and the teams would exchange leads
- The teams would tie at 20, but the Rams would get the next four point on errors by the Eagles and kills by De'Asija Harden and CJ Hinson
- The Eagles would get one more point before a kill by Williams to lead the Rams to a 25-21 win
2nd Set Highlights:
- The Rams and Eagles opened the second match evenly matched as they went back and forth
- The Eagles would gain the first advantage after a couple errors by the Rams,but the Rams would come back to tie and take a lead in the set
- After the game was tied at 21 the Eagles would win the next four points and win set two 25-21
3rd Set Highlights:
- After the game opened tied at two the Rams would gain an advantage and the lead
- The Rams would push their lead to as many as seven of a kill by Harden
- The Eagles would fight back and take the lead from the Rams
- The two teams would exchange points back and forth, but with the game tied at 25 the Eagles would get the next two points and win 27-25
4th Set Highlights:
- The Eagles would gain the advantage to open the fourth set, but after trailing 3-0 the Rams would score the next six points with Harden serving
- The Rams would hold onto their lead and push it to seven on multiple occasion
- The Rams would hold onto the lead as the Eagles fought back, but the Rams would win the fourth set 25-19
5th Set Highlights:
- The Eagles opened the set with the lead, but after a kill by Aniya Marshall the Rams picked up their first point
- Andrea Salas went back to serve for the Rams and through kills and aces the Rams raced out to a 12-2 lead
- The Rams would go onto win the fifth and deciding set 15-5
Box Score Highlights:
- The Rams led the two teams with 52 kills, 21 aces, 47 assists, and 56 digs...CJ Hinson led the Rams with 23 kills after having 26 last game...Andrea Salas had seven aces...Mackenzie Sanchez continued to dish out assists as she had 41 and she led the team with 14 digs...Lily Tang had 13 digs and Bruna Barrozo had 12...Baylee Jensen led the Eagles with 16 kills.
CIU 3 - Trinity Baptist 0
1st Set Highlights:
- The Rams and Eagles would go back and forth a little to open the first set
- The Rams would get back on track when the Eagles got to eight points
- The Rams would win the next six points with Andrea Salas serving
- The Rams would go on to win 25-9 after kills by Marshall, Hinson, and Williams
2nd Set Highlights:
- The Rams would race out to an early 9-0 lead off six aces by Sanchez
- The Eagles would keep up with the Rams over the next while, but the Rams still held a commanding 20-8 lead
- The Rams would score the next five points to win 25-8
3rd Set Highlights:
- The Rams opened the third set dominating the Eagles running out to a 16-1 lead as almost all Rams added points
- The Rams continued to hold onto a demanding lead as they went on to win 25-6
Box Score Highlights:
