Rams Tame Wildcats
Rams Tame Wildcats
The Columbia International University women's soccer team was looking to get back in the win column and also score a goal after being held scoreless their last two games. The game was all Rams even though they didn't score until the second half. The Rams would score twice in the second half and beat the Wildcats by the final of 2-0. With the win the Rams move to 4-2-1 on the season, while the Wildcats fall to 4-3.

The Rams wasted no time getting a shot off as just a minute and a half into the game Janie Holland's shot went just wide. The Rams kept the pressure on the Wildcats as they got numerous balls deep into the Wildcats territory, but were just unable to finish some opportunities. Over the first forty-five minutes the Rams took 11 shots, but still went into the half scoreless.

Just like the first half the Rams started fast as Holland got off another shot, but this time it just hit the crossbar and fell right into the keepers arms. The Rams would continue to keep the pressure on the Wildcats. At the 55:52 mark the Rams were awarded a corner kick. Sotiria Tsilionis took the kick and got a beautiful ball into the box and Kaylyn Hernandez was able to get a head on it to give the Rams their first score, while also scoring her first collegiate goal. That goal ignited the Rams as they scored less than two minutes later as Tsilionis booted a ball that had a perfect arch to it as it went right over the keeper from about forty yards out. The Rams had a number of chances as the second half wore on, but none found the back of the net so the Rams went on to win 2-0.

Columbia International had a huge advantage in shots with 19 overall and nine on goal compared to Johnson & Wales one shot overall and on goal...The Rams also held the advantage in corner kicks 6-4...Janie Holland led the Rams with seven shots overall and three on goal, while McKenzie Miller and Tsilionis each had two shots on goal...Angel Simpson had one save and picked up the win.

"The girls came out today and played a strong game," said Head Coach Kara Farnsworth. "The offense was executing really well today and we were able to get a decent number of balls in behind their back line. It was nice to finally get a ball in the net after two start games. We are looking forward to playing in our region on Wednesday against Southern Wesleyan as we know that can be a difficult game so we look to take all that worked tonight and implament it on Wednesday."
