Rams Fall to Rival Bruins in Overtime
The Columbia International University women's soccer were able to schedule an in season game with rival Bob Jones University. The Rams were looking for a game as they had one cancelled due to the hurricane. The Rams and Bruins battled throughout the whole game, but the Bruins were victorious in the first overtime.
The Rams and Bruins were playing a little possession game for the first twelve minutes, but finally at the twelve minute mark the Rams got the first shot of the game from
Kaylyn Hernandez. The rest of the first half was pretty even with the Bruins holding possession for most of the half, but the Rams did have their chances. In the first half the Bruins had five shots, while the Rams had four.
The Bruins had the first shot of the second half, but after that the second half would belong to the Rams. From the 24:22 mark of the half until the 28:40 it was all Rams as they had five shots, but just couldn't find the back of the net. The Rams were then awarded a penalty kick with just under eight minutes remaining, but unfortunately the Rams were unable to convert and the game would remain scoreless after ninety minutes.
From the opening whistle of the overtime both teams were on the attack. The Bruins had a one on one just over three and a half minutes into the overtime, but
Angel Simpson was able to come up with a huge save to keep the Rams in the game. The Bruins would attack again just over two minutes later and this time they found the back of the net and got the win.
Columbia International led with 15 shots with 10 on goal, while the Bruins had nine shots with three on goal...The Bruins held a slight 4-3 edge in corner kicks...
