After 110 Minutes Rams and Bears Tie
The Columbia International University Men's Soccer team played their final game today of the Reinhardt Tournament. The Rams faced off against Truett-McConnell University. The Bears came into the game with a record of 3-0, while the Rams came in at 2-1. Each team would battle and match each other the whole game as the game ended in a 1-1 tie after 110 minutes.

The first sixteen minutes of the game belonged to the Bears as they got off five shots and took two corners. Four of the five shots they took were on goal and for each one of them Dominik Schleinitz was there to make the save and bail his team out. Paul Grandacarpio would get off the Rams first shot, but the goalkeeper was there to make the save. The two teams would continue to battle with the Bears controlling much of the first half, but the Rams stood tall and the team went into half scoreless.

The second half went to the Rams in the same sense the first did. Although the Bears struck first just over seven minutes into the half. The Rams would put the pressure on the Bears though as they played most of the half attacking the goal. The Rams were finally awarded for all their effort. With just 9:25 remaining in the second half, Alvaro Urena was able to find the keepers weak spot and deposit his first goal as a Ram and tie the game at one. Each team would get off one more shot before the full ninety minutes were up, but neither would go in so the teams were going into overtime.

The Rams and Bears matched each other over the first ten minutes of overtime. Dominik Schleinitz made two key saves to keep the game tied and force a second overtime. Each team would get off two shots in the second overtime, but neither went in and the Rams and Bears walked off the field with a 1-1 tie.

Truett-McConnell would hold a one shot advantage in the game, 17-16, and had 10 shots on goal, compared to the Rams 4...Dominik Schleinitz was a big part of why the game ended as a tie today as he had nine saves...The Rams held the advantage in corner kicks, 6-4...Alvaro Urena had the Rams lone goal...Victor Maron had three shots for the Rams...This was the fifth meeting between the two schools and the first tie of the series.

The Rams will have a week off before they host the University of Mount Olive at home on Saturday, September 9 at 7 p.m.
