Rams Fall to Nationally Ranked Grizzlies
The Columbia International University men's soccer team was back in action tonight after having a week off. The Rams hosted nationally ranked (NAIA #11) Georgia Gwinnett College Grizzlies. The Men's Soccer team also welcomed the campers from the summer camp back for tonights game. Unfortunately the Rams would fall, 7-1, to the Grizzlies.
Unfortunately the Rams would go down early as the Grizzlies would score their first goal just before the six minute mark.
Victor Maron would get the Rams first shot off at the 19:51 mark, but the Grizzlies goalie was able to make the save. The Grizzlies would score their second goal at the 23:57 mark and take a 2-0 lead into the half.
Just thirty-three seconds into the second half the Grizzlies were awarded a penalty kick. The Grizzlies attacked took the kick, but
Dominik Schleinitz came up with a huge save on the penalty kick. The Grizzlies would score two goals in a ten minute span. The Rams would score their only goal at the 53:14 mark as
Ricky Prestridge was able to get the ball in the box and
Nolan Dorton was able to find the back of the net. The Grizzlies would score three more goals before the clock hit zeroes.
Georgia Gwinnett had 21 shots with 13 on goal, while Columbia International had 7 shots with 3 on goal..Each team had three corner kicks...Dortons' goal was his first of the season...Schleinitz had six saves for the Rams.
Columbia International is back in action on Wednesday as they host NCCAA South Region foe Southern Wesleyan University at 7 p.m.
