Rams Stumble on First Road Trip
The Columbia International University Men's Soccer started their season of with a victory on Saturday and were looking to take that momentum to Virginia with them. The Rams faced off against Bluefield College in the Battle of the Rams, but unfortunately the men could not pull out a victory, CIU fell 5-0. With the loss CIU moves to 1-1, while Bluefield moves to 2-0.

CIU was able to get the first shot of the game off as Zach Wolfenden just kicked it over top of the goal. About six minutes after that shot Bluefield would get on the board with their first goal. CIU would try to even the score as they were awarded a corner at the twenty minute mark and Dominik Byars just missed the goal at the twenty-four minute mark. Bluefield would then go on to score their second goal at the 25:57 mark of the first half. Bluefield would continue to put the pressure on CIU and score once again to go into the half up by three.

Unfortunately, the second half was much of the same as CIU wasn't able to find the back of the net and Bluefield would score two more times to win 5-0.

"We hit a little bit of a road block today," said Head Coach Bill Brindley. "Bluefield is a great team with a good offensive attack and give them credit for that. We couldn't get much of anything going in our direction today. It's time to come home and regroup to get ready for two tough game this weekend."

Bluefield held a slight advantage in shots, 11-10, while Bluefield had a 9-2 shots on goal advantage...CIU had the advantage in corners with seven, compared to Bluefields' two...Dominik Schleinitz was tested in goal all night, but had four saves.

Columbia International will travel to Waleska, GA this weekend to take part in the Reinhardt Tournament. On Friday at 2 p.m. they will play the host Reinhardt University and then on Saturday at 2 p.m. they will take on Truett-McConnell University.
