Rams Drop Final Regular Season Game

The Columbia International Unversity men's basketball team end the regular season with a win as they took on Voorhees College. The Rams and Tigers battled for 50 minutes the last time they played, but tonight was different as the Rams fell to the Tigers, 88-70. With the loss the Rams finish the regular season with a 10-17 record.

Over the first two minutes the teams would battle and trade leads, before the Tigers took a three point lead. After a Ryan Gibson three the Rams would tie the game at 11 with 14:17 remaining in the half. Gibson would score once again for the Rams and they would take a 13-11 lead. However, the Tigers would regain the lead at the 12:49 mark. Just over two minutes later the Tigers would take a six point lead, but the Rams would cut it to three with nine minutes left in the half. Although after that the Tigers would race out in front of the Rams and take a double digit lead and lead 43-30 at the half.

The Rams would come out of the half and cut the Tigers lead to 10 after a Gibson free throw. However, through all the battling the Rams did the Tigers would maintain a double-digit lead. After two free throws from JC Cavin the Rams would cut the lead to nine, but the Tigers would answer with a 13-0 run. The Tigers would control the rest of the game and the Rams would fall.

Columbia International shot 37.9 percent (25-of-66) from the floor, while Voorhees shot 54.5 percent (36-of-66) from the field...The Rams were able to dish out 19 assists...The Rams were also able to pull down 15 offensive rebounds...JC Cavin led the Rams with 21 points, 12 rebounds, and 7 assists...Jordan Dillingham had 13 points and five rebounds, while Ryan Gibson had 12 points and six rebounds...Corey Hall led the Tigers with 24 points.

Columbia International will be back in action on Tuesday as they travel to Emmanuel College to take part in the NCCAA South Region Tournament. The Rams will play Carver College on Tuesday at 7 p.m. and should they win they will play Emmanuel College on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
