Rams Struggle on the Road Against Camels
Rams Struggle on the Road Against Camels
The Columbia International University men's basketball team played the first of two games against NCAA Division I schools that are on their schedule this year. The Rams traveled to Buies Creek, NC to take on the Campbell University Camels. The Camels opened their season last week with a close loss to Penn State University. The Rams struggled to get anything going against a quality opponent tonight as they fell 108-44.

The Rams and Camels exchange possessions over the first two minutes as neither team could buy a basket, but the Camels would then get on the board first taking an early 5-0 lead. Over the next two Rams possessions they would cut the Camels lead to one. The Rams got two layups from Gabe Kirk and Micah Banks. However, the Camels would then go on a 9-0 run before Druw Rollings got the Rams their next points. The Camels would continue score as the Rams were unable to match their scoring throughout the half.

The Rams would get the first points of the second half as Banks was able to hit a jumper in the paint. Unfortunately, for the Rams the Camels offense would not slow down and they would continue to light up the scoreboard. The Rams would then fall by the final score to a good NCAA Division I team in the Camels.

Columbia International struggled on the offensive edge as they shot 35.4% (17-48), while Campbell shot 60.9% (39=64) for the game...The Rams were able to pull down 27 rebounds...Druw Rollings and Micah Banks had their best games of the year as Rollings had 13 points and Banks had 12...The Camels were led by NBA prospect Chris Clemons with 27 points.

Columbia International will have a quick turn around as they face their second NCAA Division I member on Wednesday. The Rams will travel to take on Charleston Southern with tip off scheduled for 7 p.m.
