Rams Fall Short Against Warriors
Rams Fall Short Against Warriors
The Columbia International University women's soccer team welcomed fellow NCCAA South Region member Southern Wesleyan University Warriors to Sessions Field tonight. This was a key match as the Warriors had already beaten Emmanuel College so the Rams were trying to one up the Warriors. Each team fought throughout the game, but almost every bounce went the Warriors way as they beat the Rams, 3-1. The Rams moved to 4-3-1 on the season, while the Warriors move to 6-4.

The first shot of the game would come just after the eight minute mark and it was the Warriors who would get that shot. That shot would also find the back of the net and give the Warriors an early 1-0 lead. The Rams would then start to put some pressure on the Warriors as they would get the next three shots of the game. That third shot was a penalty kick that the Rams were awarded after a hand ball in the box from the Warriors. McKenzie Miller took the ball for the penalty kick. Miller was able to beat the keeper on the right side and tie the game at one all for the Rams. Each team would have a couple chances over the next sixteen minutes, but the next team to score would be the Warriors as they took a 2-1 lead. The score would remain the same as the teams went into halftime.

The Rams would controlled the beginning of the second half as they had three shots and one corner, but the Warriors would score one more time to give us the final score of 3-1.

Columbia International held a slight 9-8 edge in shots, while each team had six shots on goal...The Rams were the lone team with a corner kick...Miller's goal was the first of her collegiate career.
