Rams and Bruins Tie After 110 Minutes
The Columbia International University women's soccer team took to the road this Friday night to take on rival Bob Jones University Bruins. The Bruins got the better of the Rams the last time they faced off. This time the teams were very equal as they matched each other in almost every category. After 110 minutes and two overtimes the teams tied at zero. The Rams record goes to 7-4-3, while the Bruins move to 8-9-1.
The Rams started off hot as in the first three minutes the Rams had a shot by
Alanna Battermann and two corner kicks taken by
Janie Holland. However, the Rams couldn't convert on those chances and didn't get another shot off until the sevententh minute. Each team would then go back and forth with their chances, but neither team was able to convert on their opportunities.
The Rams were the first team to get a shot in the second half as well as
Janie Holland got a shot on goal in the forty-eighth minute. Just like the first half each team had chances. The Rams best chances came in a span of three minutes. From the seventy-third to seventy-sixth minute Over that span the Rams got two shots from
Sotiria Tsilionis and one from
Rebecca Giancana. Unfortuantely for the Rams no shots found their way into the back of the net. After ninety minutes each team was still scoreless and headed into overtime.
In the first overtime the Rams had two chances as Battermann and Tsilionis got shots on goal, but both were saved so onto another overtime the teams went. The second overtime went in the Bruins favor as they had three shots and a corner, but the Rams held steady and kept the game scoreless after 110 minutes.
Columbia International and Bob Jones each had 14 shots, but the Rams held a slight edge as they had seven on goal, while the Bruins had five...Each team had two corner kicks...
Sam Wammock and
Angel Simpson both spent time in goal as Wammock had four saves and Simpson had one...Battermann led the Rams with three shots on goal.
Columbia International will be back in action next Friday as they wrap up their regular season against Johnson & Wales-Charlotte. The game will be in Charlotte, NC on Friday at 7 p.m.
