Rams Shutout Conquistadors in Final Home Game
The Columbia International University women's soccer team was back in action tonight after winning on senior night last Saturday. The Rams welcomed the Florida National University Conquistadors to Sessions Field. For the second straight game the Rams shutout their opponent as the Rams beat the Conquistadors 2-0. With the win the Rams move to 7-4-2 on the season, while the Conquistadors fall to 4-3-2.

Columbia International would have the first opportunity to score as the Rams were awarded a corner kick in the third minute, but that corner would go without any shot from the Rams. After a fall in the box on the Rams the Conquistadors were awarded a penalty kick in the eighth minute. The Conquistadors Isabela Martins stepped up to take the penalty kick. Martins shot to the right of Sam Wammock and as Wammock dove the shot hit off her leg and bounced out of harms way. The Rams would start to put some pressure on the Conquistadors and they would finally break the scoreless tie in the thirty-seventh minute. Kirsten Long was able to cross the ball into the box and Rebekah Reinhard got a great shot off into the bottom right corner. The Conquistadors got two more shots off in the half, but the Rams would take a 1-0 lead into the break.

The Conquistadors would get off the first shot and corner of the half, but over the next couple minutes it was all Rams as they keep the ball in the Conquistadors zone. At 61:03 the Rams, Janai McMaster broke away from the defense after a pass from Sotiria Tsilionis and she was able to get it past the keeper to give the Rams a two goal lead. McMaster's goal was her second in as many game after moving up from defense. Each team would continue to match each others style of play, but in the eighty-sixth minute the Rams were awarded a penalty kick. Tsilionis stepped up to the line to take it, but her shot went just high over the crossbar. When the final whistle sounded the Rams closed out their final home game with the 2-0 victory.

Columbia International held a slight edge in shots with 10, as Florida National had nine...The Rams had six shots on goal compared to the Conquistadors three...The Rams also held the edge in corners as they had four and the Conquistadors had two...Reinhard's goal was her third of the season and McMaster's was her second...With her goal Reinhard is now third on the team in goals...This was the first time these teams have ever played each other.
