Rams Set Numerous Records in Win Over Eagles

Looking to move past the last two games the Rams came into tonight hoping to get back in the win column. The Rams got back in the win column and that did it in dominating fashion as they beat the Eagles of Toccoa Falls College 8-1. With win the Rams move to 5-5, while the Eagles fall to 2-7-2.

The Rams came out of the gate looking like a team on a mission. The Rams were able to get on the scoreboard first as Jed Blanchat was able to score off a beautiful cross from Nolan Dorton and Paul Grandacarpio giving the Rams the 1-0 lead. Just over six minutes later Blanchat once again took the feed from Grandacarpio and found the back of the net for his second goal of the game. The Eagles were able to get one goal back at 24:36 as they cut into the Rams lead. It was just over six minutes later that the Rams were able to get their two goal lead back. Maksym Yakovenko was able to get a cross into the box as Matthew Van Pelt was coming through and he was able to find the back of the net to give the Rams their third goal. The Rams would go into the half with the scoreboard reading 3-1.

Having some time off for halftime didn't slow the Rams down at all as they were able to score their fourth goal of the game just over four minutes into the second half. Damion Patterson was able to get the ball to Matthew Hazle who was able to score the fourth Ram goal of the night. Just under ten minutes after the fourth goal the Rams were able to score their fifth goal. The Rams were awarded a corner kick that was taking by Grandacarpio who was able to make the perfect cross into the box and a high flying Hunter Haynes was able to head the ball past the keeper. The Rams would have a slight break before scoring their sixth goal just before the 73rd minute. Zach Wolfenden was able to weave past the defense and deflect the ball past the keeper. The Rams would go back on the attack just over ten minutes later as Agustin Arce-Ruiz was able to direct the ball into the back of the net off a corner. Just two minutes later the Rams would score their eighth and final goal as Braden Elmer was able to take the pass from Arce-Ruiz. The Rams would win by the final score of 8-1.

The Rams offense was on fire tonight as they had 23 shots with 18 on goal...The Rams also had an impressive 13 corner kicks...Three Rams had at least three shots...Fourteen Rams were able to get a shot off...Blanchat lead the Rams with two goals...Van Pelts goal was the first of his collegiate career...Four different Rams scored their first goals of the season...The Rams were able to limit the Eagles to one shot.

This game was one for the record books as the Rams set records in numerous departments. The first record that the Rams broke was goals in a game. The old record was six goals that was achieved twice in 2012 against Johnson University and Trinity Baptist College. The second record that the Rams broke was assists in a game as they had an outstanding ten assists tonight. The old record was six that was achieved once in 2014 and once in 2015. The last record the Rams broke was the margin of victory. The old margin was six, but with the win tonight the new record is seven. The Rams also move to 7-0 all-time against Toccoa Falls College

The men will be back in action on Saturday as they host Emmanuel College for a 7 p.m. game.
