The Columbia International University men's soccer team took a quick one day trip down to Jacksonville, FL to take on reigning NCCAA Division II National Champions Trinity Baptist College. The Rams and Eagles battled all throughout the game, but the Rams were victorious and walked away with a 1-0 victory. With the win the Rams move to 2-1, while the Eagles drop to 0-3.

The game was a very hard fought battle as both teams defense was a key part in the game. The game was scoreless at half and through most of the second half. As each team battled to find the back of the net, it was the Rams who had the best opportunity as they were awarded a penalty kick with about than sixteen minutes remaining in the game. Graham Jermstad was able to draw a foul in the box and was awarded a penalty kick to give the Rams an opportunity to take the first lead of the game. As Jermstad stepped up to take the penalty kick we can only imagine what was going through his mind, but he was able to come through for the Rams and give them a huge 1-0 lead. The Rams would hold onto the lead for the last sixteen minutes and take the victory.

The Rams were able to take twenty-one shots with fourteen coming in the second half...Goalkeeper Luke Brooks was huge for the Rams in goal today as he kept the game scoreless with eight saves and picked up his second shutout of the year.

The Rams will be back in action on Saturday as they travel to Lawrenceville, GA to take on Georgia Gwinnett College at 7 p.m. The game will be live streamed and can be viewed by following the link on the men's soccer schedule.
