Rams Tie Bruins in Final Regular Season Game

After battling in a high scoring game on Saturday against Chowan University the Rams were back in action against rival Bob Jones University. Before the game Head Coach James Whitaker was honored as tonight marked his last home game as the men's soccer coach. The Rams and Bruins battled throughout the game as there were not many shots with the teams tying 0-0 after two overtimes. With the tie the Rams move to 5-12-1, while the Bruins move to 6-9-1.

The Rams were the first team to gain any offensive chance as they were awarded a corner kick at the 3:34 mark. The Rams were unable to get off any shots in the half, but the Bruins were able to get two shots off in the half, as both were saved by Luke Brooks

Starting the second half the Rams got three shots off before the 60 minute mark. Their best chance game as Paul Grandacarpio took a rocket of a shot, but the Bruins goalkeeper was able to punch it over the crossbar. The Rams and Bruins would continue to battle, but neither team could find the back of the net and they headed into overtime.

In the first overtime the Bruins had the first chance in scoring chance just over two minute in, but Brooks was able to make the save. The Bruins would get one more shot and the Rams would get one under a minute left in the overtime.

Heading into the second overtime it was going to end in a tie or one team was going to end up on the short end of a great game. The Rams came out attacking as they were the only team to register a shot in the period as Grandacarpio and Zach Wolfenden registered shots, but the Bruins goalkeeper was there for the save. As the horn sounded the rivals battled to a 0-0 tie.

The Rams registered 6 shots, with 4 being on goal...The Rams also registered 6 corner kicks, with 5 being in second half...Doran Battermann, Wolfenden, and Grandacarpio each had at least one shot on goal...Brooks had three saves.

The Rams will have time off being competing in the NCCAA South Region Tournament at Emmanuel College against an opponent to still be determined.
