Box Score The Columbia International women's soccer team traveled to Cleveland, GA to take on Truett-McConnell. The Rams were looking at avenge a 2-1 loss to the Bears last year. However, the Rams were not able to solve the Bears defense and would lose 2-0. The Rams drop to 5-5-1 on the year, while the Bears move to 6-5.
The Bears would come out attacking, but the Rams defense stood tall. The Rams were awarded a corner kick in the eleventh minute, but couldn't muster any attack off of it. The Bears would continue to attack the Rams defense and would score in the thirty-eight minute to lead 1-0. The score would remain the same through the rest of the first half. Sam Wammock had three saves in the first half.
The second half saw the Bears continue to attack the Rams, but the Rams would continue to hold the Bears to that one goal. Meghann Esquinaldo was able to take the Rams first and only shot at the 64:34 mark, but the attempt went wide. The Bears would score their second goal at 71:34 and take the two goal lead. The Rams would fall to the Bears by the final score of 2-0.
Sam Wammock was a force in goal today as she faced 11 shots and saved 9 of them...The Rams were only able to muster up one shot and one corner kick.
The Rams will look to get back on track at home on Tuesday as they host Bluefield College at 5 p.m.
