Box Score The Rams made the hour and a half road trip to Greenville, SC to take on the Bruins of Bob Jones University. The men were looking to get back in the win column as they faced off against the Bruins. The Rams controlled a lot of the play, but just missed out on a few opportunities and fell to the Bruins 3-1.
The Rams came out hitting on all cylinders as Zach Wolfenden was able to put the Rams on the board first just three minutes into the game. The Rams and Bruins would continue to exchange opportunities, but the Bruins would strike for two goals before the twenty minute mark. Each team would continue to have their opportunities, but the Rams would go into the break down 2-1.
The Rams came out looking to get even with the Bruins. The Rams would control much of the possession, but just couldn't show anything for it. The teams would continue to battle, but as Paul Grandacarpio was working his way towards the goal he was fouled in the box and awarded a penalty kick. As Grandacarpio stepped to the line you could feel the energy as all the CIU fans were on their feet. Grandacarpio hit the ball square and firm, but it ricocheted off the crossbar and out of the Bruins zone. Soon after the penalty kick the Bruins would navigate their way down the field and challenge Luke Brook as one attacker would get behind the Rams defense, but Luke Brooks came out and make a huge save. The Bruins would continue to pressure the Rams and pick up their third goal with nine minutes left. As the clock hit zeroes the final score ended in the Bruins favor 3-1.
The Rams had 16 shots with 8 being on goal...The Rams had three corners in the first half and one in the second...Wolfenden had the only goal for the Rams...Brooks was huge in goal for the Rams as he had six saves with five being in the second half.
The Rams next game will be at Newberry College on October 26. The game will kick-off at 3:30 pm.
