Box Score After playing the whole month of September at home the Columbia International women's soccer team traveled to Murfreesboro, NC to take on Chowan University. The Rams went into the game riding a three game winning streak, but the Hawks were the victorious team today. The Hawks would win the game 3-0. With the loss the Rams drop to 5-3-1 on the season, while the Hawks move to 4-5.
With the game starting in the heat of the day both teams were trying to find their footing early. The Rams were the first to get a shot on the board as Angela McMaster had her shot blocked in the eight minute. Over the next twenty-seven minutes each team would have their chances, but neither would be able to put their team ahead. However, at 35:37 the Hawks were able to strike as they were able to get a cross into the box and then find the back of the net. Each team would get one more shot before the half ended, but neither would score so the Hawks took their lead into the half.
The Rams came out of the half looking to tie the game, but the Hawks would score two goals within the first six minutes to give them a three goal lead. The Rams would continue to try and chip away at their lead, but they just couldn't find the back of the net. They were able to take six shots in the second half, but just not the shots that they needed to help them mount a comeback. As the horn sounded the Hawks walked off with a 3-0 victory.
The Rams offense was able to take 11 shots, but only three on goal... Alanna Battermann led the Rams with three shots... Sam Wammock had four saves in goal...The Rams are now 1-3 all-time against the Hawks.
The Rams will be back in action on Wednesday as they travel to Greenville, SC to take on the Warriors of Southern Wesleyan University for a 5 p.m. game.
