Tony Stockman

CIU men’s basketball’s winningest head coach, Tony Stockman, enters his eighth season leading the CIU men’s basketball program, where he has built the Rams into a consistent winner and postseason contender. Since his arrival in 2018, Stockman has guided CIU to a 134-82 record, five 20-win seasons,18 All-Conference performers, and 6 NCCAA All-Americans.. The 2024-25 season saw the Rams reach the NCCAA National Championship game, while the 2022-23 team captured the program’s first Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Tournament title and earned a historic bid to the NAIA National Championship Tournament.

Stockman’s impact has been felt from the start, taking the program to its first winning season in 2018-19 and quickly elevating CIU to national relevance. His teams have made deep postseason runs, highlighted by a remarkable stretch from 2021 to 2025 that included multiple AAC Tournament appearances, NCCAA South Region titles, and national tournament bids. Known for maximizing talent and building competitive, disciplined teams, Stockman has led CIU to one of the most successful eras in program history.

Prior to CIU, Stockman spent six seasons as head coach at Ohio Christian University. There, he compiled an impressive resume, winning two NCCAA Division II National Championships (2013, 2014), earning 2015 National Coach of the Year honors, and guiding OCU through a successful transition to NAIA and NCCAA Division I play. In total, Stockman has amassed a 268-155 career coaching record, with his teams reaching the postseason in all 13 seasons at the collegiate level.

A standout player before transitioning to coaching, Stockman began his college career at Clemson, where he was one of the top scorers in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). He later transferred to Ohio State, where he led the Buckeyes in scoring as a senior. After college, he enjoyed a seven-year professional career overseas. Stockman holds a degree in sociology from Ohio State and is married to his wife, Brittany. They have five children: Tayden, Maddox, Braysen, Mytae, and Solae.
