Rusty Shealy

    Assistant Coach - Pole Vault
Shealy is widely respected as one the best pole vault coaches in the nation. He has coached an astonishing 105 South Carolina High School pole vault champions since 1998 with a top male height of  17’ 1” and a top female 13’ 3.5”. On top of his success in the state Shealy has coached eleven high school and youth national champions. Most notably Shealy was the high school club coach of Sandi Morris (16’ 4.75” (5.0m) PR) who went on to be a 2018 IAAF World Indoor Champion, and Rio Olympic Silver medalist.

In 2003 Shealy coached Chase Shealy at the NSSF Adidas Outdoor Championships where his vault cleared a height of 17' 0.25” which set the meet record earned and earned him a national high school pole vaulting championship .

At the collegiate level Shealy has coached seven SEC Championship scorers in two seasons, while coaching at Univ. of South Carolina.

In 2007, Shealy was inducted into the USA Track and Field South Carolina Hall of Fame.
