KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — CIU women's basketball dropped a 92–46 decision at Johnson University on Saturday afternoon in Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) play at Karnes Arena.
Johnson took control early, jumping out to a 23–8 lead after the opening quarter and extending the margin to 49–19 by halftime. The Royals continued to build separation in the second half, using efficient perimeter scoring and capitalizing on turnovers to pull away.
Lily Dunn led CIU with 11 points, knocking down three three-pointers and going 2-for-2 at the free-throw line. Selah George added eight points and two steals, while Aubrielle Harris chipped in six points on 3-of-5 shooting. Katie Johnson finished with five points and two rebounds, and Jerchel Geathers-Washington contributed four points and two rebounds.
Defensively, the Rams were active in the passing lanes, recording 14 steals and forcing 16 turnovers, which led to transition scoring opportunities throughout the contest. CIU also finished with 28 rebounds on the afternoon.
CIU returns home for its next AAC matchup on Wednesday, Jan. 7, hosting Bluefield University (Va.) at 5:30 p.m. in the Moore Fitness Center.
