MILLIGAN, TENN. - CIU women's basketball hit the road to take on (RV) Milligan University for a Saturday afternoon Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) matchup. Despite coming off a win on Wednesday, the Rams struggled to get going offensively and fell 87-39 to the Buffs.
Game Recap: The Rams struggled early in the game but stayed competitive with Milligan in the first quarter, trailing by just eight after a jump shot from Mariah Leinbach made it 22-14. However, CIU was held to only four points in the second quarter and faced a 24-point deficit at halftime.
The Rams regrouped in the third, with Irene Were contributing six points and Jerchel Geathers-Washington adding five. Despite CIU's efforts, including ten more points in the final quarter, Milligan maintained their lead to secure the victory on their home court.
Were led the Rams with 11 points, while Leinbach and Zhani Thompson each recorded ten rebounds. The team also posted four blocks and four steals.
