MILLIGAN, Tenn. — CIU women's basketball fell on the road Saturday, dropping an 83–32 contest to Milligan in Appalachian Athletic Conference play. The Rams slipped to 4–7 overall and 2–3 in conference action, while Milligan moved to 6–4 and stayed unbeaten in AAC play.
Despite the final margin, CIU battled evenly in two of the four quarters. If the game were reduced to the first and third periods alone, both teams scored a combined 21 points in each, resulting in a tie across those 20 minutes. However, Milligan's decisive second quarter and another dominant fourth frame created separation the Rams could not recover from. CIU held Milligan to just nine points in the third period—its best defensive stretch of the afternoon.
Katlynn Chinn led the Rams with six points and five rebounds while attacking the lane throughout the night.
Bryanna Belton added six points and eight rebounds off the bench, and
Sadie Burnette also scored six, including a made three-pointer.
Katie Johnson and
Selah George tallied four points apiece, with George knocking down two free throws.
Jerchel Geathers-Washington anchored CIU inside with a team-high nine rebounds.
As a team, CIU collected 45 total rebounds—including 13 on the offensive glass—and generated extended possessions, but the Rams struggled to convert, shooting 23 percent from the field.
CIU returns home to host Spartanburg Methodist College on Wednesday, Dec. 10, at 5:30 p.m. ET.
