WALESKA, Ga. — CIU women's basketball closed out the 2025 fall semester on Saturday afternoon with an 81–46 loss to one of the Appalachian Athletic Conference's top teams, Reinhardt University, in AAC action.
The Rams struggled to find offensive rhythm early as Reinhardt jumped out to a 22–8 lead after the first quarter and extended the margin to 47–16 by halftime. CIU responded with its best stretch of the game in the third quarter, outscoring Reinhardt 21–14 behind improved shooting and ball movement, but the Eagles regained control in the fourth to pull away.
Sadie Burnette led CIU with 14 points off the bench, knocking down 4-of-5 shots from three-point range. Bryanna Belton added seven points, while Katie Johnson finished with eight points and four rebounds. Magdalena Mihaljevic chipped in five points, including a pair of free throws, and Katlynn Chinn contributed four rebounds and two assists.
CIU shot 35.6 percent from the field and 35.0 percent from three while collecting 36 rebounds and scoring 30 bench points. Defensively, the Rams forced 19 turnovers but were unable to slow Reinhardt's perimeter shooting in the first half.
CIU will break for the semester before returning to action on Monday, Dec. 29, traveling to Wilmington, N.C., to face UNCW in an NCAA Division I exhibition at 7:00 p.m. ET.
