Overwatch Blue

Overwatch Blue swept Iona University in their second conference game of the season 3-0 in Thursday's match. Iona, touting higher ranks than some of the CIU players, found their footing early in the game's first map, capping the point early and putting CIU on their back foot within the first moments of the match. However, mere minutes would shift this narrative in CIU's favor as the team leveraged that aggressive play from Iona into a quick and clever strategy to claim and defend the objective, winning several skirmishes via total part wipes. 

The Overwatch Blue team touts the talent of two freshmen, Charlie Underhill and Patrick Shaw; two upperclassmen and returning players, Zach Snook and Mariah Slaughter; and two veteran players, Aiden Ivey and Ayden Wiggins. This team has shown a passionate commitment to discussing, practicing, and implementing strategies in light of the game's current meta. Thursday night's match was evidence of their tremendous effort this season. In a post-game interview, veteran player Ayden Wiggins offered kudos to support player Patrick Shaw in light of his enthusiasm for the game, saying, "He seems like a pillar that may be required for the team's mental in the long run." Well done, Overwatch Blue!
