Esports Weekly Recap: Rocket League and Smash wrap-up fall regular-season

CIU Rocket League Gold vs. University of Kentucky AND Rochester Technical Institute (DOUBLE HEADER)

CIU Rocket League Gold had a double header on Monday of last week and performed amicably! While their battle against UKY ended in a 2-3 loss in overtime of game 5, Rocket League Gold would circle back and sweep Rochester Institute with a 3-0 win, bringing their record for the regular season to 5-2, ensuring their place in playoffs this fall. During both games, Co-Captain Casey Feaster did a remarkable job rallying his teammates into the appropriate mindset needed to persist through several hours of matches that evening. He had more to say in a post-game interview that is available to hear on Twitch. Well done CIU Rocket League Gold!

CIU Rocket League Gold competes in the NACE Varsity Plus division, where they'll compete against a variety of schools all over North America. Matches are held every Monday night at 7:00pm ET and are broadcasted on Twitch with professional shout casting.

CIU Rocket League Blue vs. DePaul University AND Lake Michigan College (DOUBLE HEADER)

CIU Rocket League Blue played a double header on Monday of last week alongside of the Gold team, sweeping both DePaul University and Lake Michigan College with 3-0 wins, bringing their record at the end of the regular season to 2-4. Blue team has trained and batted hard all season long for these wins, grinding competitive mode, scrimmaging twice a week, and often partnering with gold team for additional practice opportunities. Juan Jimenez, in a post-game interview, went on to declare that a notable part of their success in the double header could be attributed to the team committing to half rotations and playing more aggressively than they were comfortable with at times. Blue team will also be headed to playoffs starting on next week! Well done CIU Rocket League Blue!

CIU Rocket League Blue competes in the NACE Varsity Plus division, where they'll compete against a variety of schools all over North America. Matches are held every Monday night at 7:00pm ET and are broadcasted on Team Captain Campbell's Twitch channel.

CIU Rams Smash vs. Brewton-Parker College AND William Peace University

CIU Rams Smash overtook BPC 2-0 in a best of 3 match set last Tuesday evening, bringing their record for the regular season to  3-3. Team Captain Erik Wisotsky and player Nick Smith surprised viewers with a change in their character picks for the BPC game with Wisotsky playing Bowser and Smith choosing Hero; which would land him in a unique mirror match with BPC's Hero player later that evening. On Thursday evening, CIU Rams Smash went toe to toe with WPU in their final best of 3 match set of the regular season. In the first match, Wisotsky battled and defeated all four of WPU's players earning CIU all 12 stock! In the second match, Nick Smith dropped a final kamikaze spell with Hero to win the match in a theatrical display of talent. CIU Rams Smash finished the regular season with a 4-3 record, guaranteeing their spot in playoffs starting on next week. Go Rams!
