CIU prepares for NAIA and NCCAA nationals with last chance meet at Montreat
MONTREAT, N.C. - CIU track and field competed in the Montreat College Last Chance Meet on Friday as a tune-up for some athletes and as an opportunity for others to qualify for both the NCCAA and NAIA Championships.
The Rams were impressive as usual on both the men's and women's pole vault. John Hunter James finished with a height of 5.10m which put him at the top spot in the meet. On the women's side, Ashleigh Harding finished 3rd in the event with a mark of 3.40m.
On the track, Meghann Miller and Tiona Walls demonstrated their prowess in the 200m. Miller came in 4th in the event with a time of 26.22, while Walls recorded a 6th place finish at 26.34.
The Rams would see an NCCAA qualifier on the track as Tavarress Berrian qualified for NCCAA Outdoor Championship in the 400m. Berrian notched a time of 51.26 in the event.
CIU will be headed to Greenville, Illinois, to compete in the NCCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championship beginning on Wednesday, May 10th. For information on the championship, click here.
