Rimmer ties PR in the pole vault as Rams wrap up NAIA Outdoor Track & Field Championships
GULF SHORES, Ala. - CIU men's track & field took part in their final event of the NAIA Track & Field Outdoor Championships as
Blake Rimmer competed in the men's pole vault. Two-time NAIA Indoor Pole Vault National Champion
John Hunter James was slated to participate as well, but a lingering injury, unfortunately, forced James to have to sit out the event.
Rimmer would represent CIU well as he cleared a height of 4.75 meters and tied his personal record. The trip was Rimmer's first to the NAIA National Championships after getting experience on the national stage a few weeks ago when he came in 3rd in the pole vault at the NCCAA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships.
"Blake stepped up big time today. He equaled his PR and got on the biggest pole he ever has. I am so proud of Blake's progress over the last few weeks, especially." said head coach
Jud Brooker
Brooker continued this time speaking on James, saying, "We are heartbroken for John. He tweaked his groin earlier in the week and just wasn't ready to go. He has a huge heart and competitive spirit, and we are trusting God's plan for him."
CIU men's track & field will be back in action during the 2021 fall semester.
