Bacon and Wilburn power to top ten finish at NAIA National Championships
YANKTON, S.D. – One day removed from picking up their first All-American award of the season in
John Hunter James, the CIU men's track and field team added two more NAIA All-Americans on Saturday. Freshman
Brandon Bacon and sophomore
Nathaniel Wilburn finished top ten in the 3000m race walk at the 2021 NAIA Indoor Track & Field Championships to achieve the status. Both athletes smashed their previous PR's and the school record as Bacon finished sixth with a time of 14:15.84 while Wilburn finished seventh with a time of 14:17.21.
The performance comes just a few weeks removed from the pair taking home first and second at the Appalachian Athletic Conference Championships, where Bacon would set the conference record in the race walk.
CIU currently sits at second as a team in the championships.

Jud Brooker was delighted with the duo's performance saying, "Man, I am so proud of Brandon and Nate, for them to get All-American as a freshman and sophomore is an outstanding achievement. I loved seeing how hard they have worked."
