CIU finds success in several events at Rams February Invitational
COLUMBIA, S.C. – The CIU men's track and field team, ranked #22 by USTFCCCA, was back in action this weekend at their home meet, the Rams February Invitational. The meet primarily comprised of Appalachian Athletic Conference programs was held outside at CIU's track complex despite counting towards the indoor track & field season.

CIU made their mark in several different events though they did not bring home as many first-place finishes as they did last week at the Roanoke Invitational.  Isaac Winkfield, who won the high jump last week, finished fifth in this weeks competition. Winkfield was up against the best the AAC has to offer as he reached a height of 1.70 meters.

John Hunter James took home first place yet again in the pole vault as the sophomore had a mark of 4.92 meters.

Ethan Robinson looked sharp as the CIU sprinter won his 60-meter heat and finished with a time of 7.61 in the 60-meter final.

Nathaniel Wilburn and Brandon Bacon had excellent days in the race-walk as they both set their PR's, Wilburn finishing with a time of 14:53.34 and Bacon at a time of 15:39.94.

In the weight throw, Jonathan Hicks finished seventh among some of the conference elite as he threw a distance of 12.58 meters.

Coach Jud Brooker had high praise for his team, commenting,"Nate and Brandon smashed the walk while John Hunter continued his dominance. Ethan and Clayton Hammonds saw good improvements in the sprints. Overall the guys are seeing significant gains this year."
