Athens, TN – After traveling to the volunteer state a week ago, the CIU women's basketball team headed back to Tennessee on Saturday to take on the Tennessee Wesleyan Bulldogs. The game would be the second meeting of the season between the two teams, with the first coming back on November 9th in the form of a Bulldogs victory. Saturday's game would see a similar result as TWU outlasted CIU on their home court.
How It Happened:
Queeneka Howard would score early on for the Rams in the first quarter, but the Bulldogs would jump out to a double-digit lead. After a difficult first half, CIU would see more success in the third quarter behind scoring from Kenia Watkins and Jordan Sprueill. The Rams would struggle on the fourth, however, and fall to the Bulldogs by double-digits.
Game Notes
- Lakelyn Malovic was a spark for the Rams leading CIU in rebounds with 7 while also scoring 4 points.
- Jordan Sprueill knocked shot 75% from the line while posting 6 rebounds.
- CIU forced the Bulldogs into double-digit turnovers causing TWU to give the ball away 11 times.
