Snuffer Shines at USC Open
With Easter being tomorrow a small group from the Men's and Women's Track and Field team made the short trip to the University of South Carolina. The Rams were looking to hit marks as they gear up for conference next weekend.
The Rams day got started in the women's hammer throw. It was a very competitive field in the women's hammer as the Rams competitor got a mark of 33.59 meters which was better than two NCAA Division I throwers.
Blaise Shields was the first Ram on the track today taking part in the 1500 meter run. Shields was in the second heat and ran a solid race with a time of 4:50.
Sotiria Tsilionis was the next Ram to hit the track as she was in the third heat of the women's 800 meter run. Tsilionis had one of her best races all year she she finished second in her heat with at ime of 2:36.
John Talbert was looking to run an even better race than last week at USC when he finished with a personal record. Talbert was in heat three and just missed beating his personal record again as he finished in third with a time of 1:04.
Christine Snuffer had her best day on the track today in her first ever race in the women's steeplechase. Snuffer dominated the race finishing first overall with a time of 12:20. With her time Snuffer qualified for NCCAA Nationals by over twenty seconds. Snuffer is the first ever Ram to win an event at a USC track meet.
The Rams will be back in action next weekend as they take part in the AAC Championships at Montreat College.
