Columbia, SC – The CIU Women's Basketball team played their final game of the semester Saturday evening as they hosted the Union College Bulldogs. The Rams got their first Appalachian Athletic Conference to win against the Bulldogs last season but would split the season series. CIU (3-7) came into the game looking to steal a win from the Bulldogs (7-4) but would be denied 74-50.
How It Happened
1st Half UC 38 CIU 20: The first and only tie of the game would come after Renee Carter, a finish inside, would tie the game at 2-2. The Bulldogs would unfortunately never trail from that point on and would jump out to a 15-7 advantage over CIU. Britney Brown would help CIU stay in the game getting the Rams as close as 17-10, but the Bulldogs would explode out to a 19-point lead. An and-one from Lakelyn Malovic would be a bright spot for the Rams towards the end of the half, but they would trail 38-20 at halftime.
2nd Half UC 74 CIU 50: Renee Carter would once again start the scoring off for the Rams in the second half scoring in the paint for CIU. Hannah Trawick would have a solid showing for CIU in the second half, but a barrage of three-pointers would be too much for the Rams to handle. CIU would drop the contest 74-50.
