COLUMBIA, SC - The CIU Women's Basketball team played their home-opener Saturday night against Tennessee Wesleyan University. The Rams came into the afternoon, coming off a loss to Allen University on Wednesday night. The Rams lost their only matchup to Bulldogs last season 71-61. CIU would only trail by 8 points going into halftime Saturday afternoon, but the Bulldogs would pull away in the second half, and the Rams fell 59-43.
Game Summary
CIU would be led by senior Jordan Sprueill, who scored 9 points and pulled in 6 boards. Sprueill shot 4 of 6 from the field. The Rams saw a spark off the bench in the form of Mary Catherine Outlaw. Outlaw scored 5 points for the Rams but also brought energy and effort when the Rams needed it most. Qeeneka Howard continued her solid start to the season scoring 8 points and shooting 4-5 from the charity stripe. Keniah Watkins helped the Rams keep pace with Bulldogs shooting a stellar 50% percent from the field on 6 points.Â

- The first and third quarters were the most troubling for the Rams as they only lost the second and fourth quarters by a combined 24-23
- Coming into this afternoon's contest Jordan Sprueill was 7th in the conference in scoring averaging 18 points per game
- The Bulldogs slightly edged the Rams in the turnover margin 17-16.Â
- Tiona Walls and Larissa Lee made an impact on the defensive end combing for four steals.Â
