Track and Field Participates at Liberty Kickoff
The Columbia International University Track and Field teams made the trip to Liberty University this weekend to take part in the Liberty Kickoff. The Rams have athletes competing today as well as tomorrow.
Today the Rams,
Sam Wammock and
Blake Guillozet took part in events.
Sam Wammock competed in her first ever weight throw and threw it 28 feet and five inches.
Blake Guillozet took part in the 5k and ran the fourth fastest time in conference with a time of 15:54. Guillozet placed second in his heat and ninth overall.
The Rams were back in action today as they took part on the track as well as in the field. On the track,
Meghann Miller took part in the 60 and 200 meter dash. In the 60 meter dash, Miller finished with a time of 8.76 seconds and in the 200 meter dash she finished with a time of 28.79 seconds.
Seth Despres also took part in the 60 meter dash and finished with a time of 7.76 seconds. Despres took part in the long jump as well and went 5.25 meters.
Blaise Shields and
Michael Knight were the last Rams to take part in an event on the track as they both competed in the 1000 meter run. Shields ran a time of 2 minutes and 59 seconds, while Knight finished with a time of 3 minutes and three seconds.
In the field the Rams took part in numerous events. For the women
Sam Wammock and Colleen Colleen competed in the shot put. Colleen threw the shot 8.78 meters and beat out a couple other athletes, while Wammock threw the shot 9.86 meters and finished strongly in a competitive field. On the men's side,
Dizayuh Hinton competed in the weight throw and threw 9.56 meters.
Brandon Scaffe competed in the pole vault and improved since his last time out as he cleared 12 feet and five inches.
The Rams will be back in action next weekend as they take part in the Carolina Challenge hosted by the University of South Carolina.
