Hawks Soar Past Rams
The Columbia International University women's basketball team had a short rest after their game last night. The Rams played their last game of the Converse College tournament this afternoon. Today the Rams took on the Hawks of Chowan University. The Hawks got on top of the Rams early and the Rams struggled on back-to-back games and fell 97-41.
The Rams would get on the board first with a jumper from
Zeleria Simpson, However, the Hawks were able to score on their next possession. Including those two points for the Hawks they went on a 7-0 run, but the Rams stopped the run with a layup from
Semoine Frasier. The Rams and Hawks would battle as the Rams got points from
Raven Fleming, but the Hawks would start to pull away and take a 24-11 lead after one quarter.
The Hawks would start the second half on a big 14-0 run, but Frasier put a stop to it once again. The two teams would go back and forth, but the Hawks continued to score and took a big lead into halftime.
The Rams struggled in the second half to get the offense going as they were only able to score twenty total points in the half. The Hawks would continue to score and the Rams fell 97-41 after forty minutes of basketball.
Columbia International struggled from the field as they shot 25.5%, while Chowan shot 45.1%...Semoine Frasier led the Rams with 15 points...Zeleria Simpson was the second Ram to score in double figures with 11 points...Dhyamond Crenshaw led the Hawks with 26 points.
Columbia International will play their first home game of the season on Tuesday as they host Warren Wilson College at 5:30 p.m.
